ICDL started its journey in the government sector in Bangladesh - 160 Government officials to complete certification before the end of this year.
The inaugural session of the launch of ICDL training and certification in a government project “Assistance to SICT for strengthening Planning Division, ERD (External Resource Division) and IMED (Implementation, Management & Evaluation Division) through ICT”, funded by UNDP was held on June 16, 2008 in the Planning Division campus.
Mr. Syed Mokammel Hossain, Managing Director, Show & Tell Consulting Ltd, the Licensee of ICDL in Bangladesh, delivered a brief presentation on the benefits, scope and recognition of ICDL in the world with emphasis on the governmental sector.
Mr. Jafar Ahmed Chowdhury stated that in order to remain competitive and stay abreast of challenges in the workplace, personnel working in the government sector must possess the required IT skills. He also affirmed that ICDL certification is the most proven means globally to demonstrate one’s competency in basic IT usage in the workplace.
